Okay, I caught the "casting fever" as the G so aptly phrased it.
Alex Kingston as Crosshairs - I needed someone to be Kingston; she's gorgeous and talented. A Deadshot parody seems right for the wife of the Doctor.
Amanda Seyfried as Punchinello - This one was tough. I needed someone who was cute/attractive, like Harley Quinn, but had the capacity for badassitude...Seyfried does the trick just nicely; if you've ever seen Jennifer's Body, you know what I'm sayin'.
Amy Acker as Mirror - Another toughy! See, I'm a huge Angel fan and I just adore Amy Acker...her transformation into Ilyria for season 5 was heartbreaking and also really indicative of the actress's skills.
Angelina Jolie as Nightshade - I tried to pick someone here who would look AWESOME in full body paint/costuming. She's so exotic and dangerous-looking (especially in this picture) I just couldn't resist. Those lips and dem cheekbones are simply luxurious!
Anna Paquin as Wonder Momo - My goodness I love Paquin. She's really blossomed as an actress (actor, now, I guess) from X-Men to True Blood. She has a certain beauty to her that is less "girl next door" and more "tough as nails"...Which I sort of picture Wonder Momo to have.
Billie Piper as Knight - So, Cassandra Cain's Batgirl was next in line and DAMN was that HARD. I picked Piper because of her character as Rose Tyler in Doctor Who. The girl is fabulous, tough and beautiful. I guess I see Knight like that, too.
Charisma Carpenter as Voltaic Viscereine - When I saw this pic of Carpenter I went "Cordy, you have arrived." Again, my Angel fandom is showing...!! She looks so powerful and beautiful, I just couldn't stop myself.
Christina Ricci as Mastermind - Simply put, the girl has a great forehead for the Braniac logo. She's not particularly huge, which lends more to her character than, I think, being GIGANTIC would be. Mastermind is an adversary to be feared, after all.
Cobie Smulders as Sage Searchlight - Yes, I am a How I Met Your Mother peripheral fan...I mostly watch it for NPH but who the Hell doesn't? After seeing Smulders in the Avengers as Maria Hill (a VERY strong woman), my perception of this actress has changed almost entirely. Edie is strong, beautiful and independent...so y'know, I thought this could work.
Ellen Page as Safari - Finding young actresses is hard enough; finding ones I like (ones who are mature, good at their jobs and convincing) is even harder. Nevertheless, Ellen Page is one of my favorites...from Kitty Pryde to Juno, she has all the qualities of a strong, young heroine.
Emma Watson as Green Strike - Let's look at it this way: Harry fucking Potter. She has grown SO much and become a fabulous woman to watch play Hermione Granger. So what if Green Strike may or may not be the illegitimate daughter of Blue Thunder...she's an accomplished archer and the teams of Earth-G are lucky to have her.
Gwyneth Paltrow as Impakt - This one was a bit of a surprise to ME as well. I saw the playful picture--and lemme tell you, it's tough to find one that doesn't have her hair all straightened--and was just charmed! I love how she plays Pepper Potts. I see in her the ability to be playful and energetic; the woman is a talented actress and pretty, too. Who doesn't wanna see her in bright red and white spandex?
Hayden Panettiere as Bronze Bowman - The androgynous nature of Bowman lead me to younger, less boobylicious starlets. Panettiere is kind of a hollywood hottie but I think she might lend herself well to a role like this.
January Jones as Blue Thunder - It's so difficult to find an actress who is older but not Meryl Streep (who I love). Jones is hot in the classic way. In Mad Men, she sports the style of the fifties and sixties like a champ; in First Class, her lingerie-wearing Emma Frost is enchanting to look at AND watch--she's NOT a terrible actress.
Jennifer Lawrence as Hamlin - I bet you were all expecting me to make her one of the archers. HA!! I sure showed YOU all!! I took one look at Hamlin's picture and was like "yup...yup." I haven't seen Hunger Games and I don't know a thing about Katniss beyond that she's an archer and supposed to be olive-skinned and dark-haired. What I DO know is that Lawrence gave a killer performance as Raven in First Class. She was beautiful, smart, funny and if she held up a flute and played it, I'D follow her.
Jennifer Morrison as Scary - I'm a House fan. I confess. I do not particularly like Cameron 'til she ISN'T part of House's team, but when she separates, she's brilliant. She is a beautiful woman and a good actress. I think she has the capacity to be a female Scarecrow. The best part is? Scare doesn't wear a sack on her head!! She's actually quite fashionable.
Jessica Alba as Chanceless - Spoiler was Robin's girlfriend; she was hot. End o' story. KIDDING. I actually like Alba's work, from Sin City to the Fantastic Four, this woman CAN act. She's not particularly tall and she can look quite young...as I assume Chanceless isn't in her 30's.
Karen Gillan as Velocity - Oh poo, my Who is showing. I saw this picture of her and she looked downright menacing. I'm a big Inertia fan--or at least, his interactions with Bart...Gillan is pretty but sharp (well, Amy Pond is sharp) and I think she has great potential to be vindictive and bitter, like an Inertia parody such as Velocity might be. Plus she'd look awesome blonde.
Kate Winslet as Awesome Lad - This one was exceedingly difficult. I needed a woman who looked powerful but still female (not that it's not possible but if we examine Hollywood, the majority of females are going to look...well...feminine). In this picture, Winslet owns her hotness. She looks like she'd be able to punch through a wall without a problem--huzzah!
Keira Knightley as Starburst - I know Starburst is currently inactive but I couldn't resist. I thought "who'd look good (in skimpy clothes) [<--my inner Starfire pervert is talking here], tossing balls of energy?" then answered myself "Keira fucking Knightley!" She has more balls than most of the PotC cast--ahem, GO MISS SWANN GO!
Liv Tyler as Awesome Woman - She is awesome indeed. The girl got her daddy's lips. This picture's a bit more sultry than I intended but hey, a woman's gotta own it, right? Awesome Woman has the power, the beauty and the confidence AND she's not tiny. Tyler is a plus-sized model and proud (though how 14's are plus sized, I'll never know; I must be a fatass).
Malin Akerman as Hummingbird - Another tragically inactive profile that I hopped on anyway! I looked up Dove, just to get it right...Then I was like "Silk Specter is like, SUPER hot" so...well...ZING. She's slender, busty and beautiful...bingo.
Mariska Hargitay as Lady Falcon - How many ways can I say I adore Hargitay? I realize Law and Order: SVU isn't exactly the best representation of police work but Olivia Benson is probably one of my favorite characters and she is SO very strong. I realize I keep saying strong for these women...but let's face it, they're heroes; it's what they do. I see Lady Falcon as a strong, middle-aged woman...like Hawk Girl. She takes poo from no one and dishes out a mean pounding.
Milla Jovovich as Marvelous - Another actress with whom I am in absolute love. After seeing the Fifth Element and all the RE movies and knowing she's in many MORE action movies, my faith in the female sex as action stars has been restored. Jovovich goes in my book on the same page as Sigourney Weaver and Michelle Rodriguez. Put it simply, she kicks ass.
Olivia Wilde as Eclipse - I needed someone who could be a mature member of the Earth-G "bat family", if you will. I adore Wilde. Her portrayal of Quorra in Tron: Legacy is brilliant...She is innocent yet somehow incredibly wise. As 13 in House, she impresses again with her mysterious sadness...which leans perhaps toward an Oracle-like transformation for Eclipse.
Penelope Cruz as Aquarius - Okay, Cruz is beautiful...just straight up. I needed someone who could look Atlantian by half and this woman does. While I have not seen "On Stranger Tides", I can only assume that her character is rather unique to be able to run with Jack Sparrow.
Rebecca Romijn Stamos as Beast Girl - This was another actress I chose for her ability to wear body paint. Mystique was a great role for this woman with a low, sultry voice and the ability to portray a character as deep and complex as the blue shape-shifter. A lesser known role has her living in the same apartment building as Thomas Jane as the Punisher. As a secondary character, Romijn Stamos shines anyway.
Scarlett Johansson as Epic Girl - You knew this was coming, I hope. Johansson has yet to disappoint me. As Silken Floss in The Spirit, she shows a jaded, darker side and a power beholden to no man. I won't even go INTO her awesomeness as Black Widow but DAMN girl. DAMN.
Zooey Deschanel as Momentum - Our last speedster and the hardest to cast, I picked Deschanel from her role in 500 Days of Summer. She's got the wide-eyed, strange beauty of a girl who has certain interests that might not line up with what society says is appropriate. But, like a good speedster, she does her own thing, dances to the beat of her own goddamn drum and ain't no one gunna stop her.
I hope this has been...entertaining. I don't mean to offend anyone with my choices; I genuinely like all these actresses in one way or another and I love all your characters. I REPEAT THERE IS NO INTENTION OF OFFENSE. This is a PARODY. Every single actress is meant to portray a PARODY of a DC Universe character, not the character themselves.
I haven't really read any of it for awhile. I was reading Batman, Aquaman and Green Lantern and they were okay. Batman was quite good and Green Lantern had it's moments but I don't know. It just wasn't enough for me to keep reading. Elements of them were okay and what I would love to read. But in the context of the New 52 I just found it boring and confusing. I tried some other stuff but I really didn't like it. I think I'm just bitter about they did to Superman. If they de-douchify him then I might go back to reading some of it.
It's pretty awful. It started off boring and now it's just shit.
Yeah I loved that series too. Well...the start of it. Once Jeph Loeb left I kinda drifted away from it. I picked it up now and then but that was it. But yeah, that first year or so of issues was awesome.
